Millennials seem to be obsessing over injectable treatments and you should be too…

I have always had a distinct criticism of injectable treatments, but once I began working within the plastics world, I saw how many women and men partook in the trend, I was immediately intrigued. I began speaking to patients as well as our team’s master injectors, studying how Botox works as a preventative. Botox by definition,

Bo·tox ˈbōtäks/ noun a drug prepared from the bacterial toxin botulinum, used medically to treat certain muscular conditions and cosmetically to remove wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing facial muscles.

As we age our collagen becomes weaker making it more difficult for skin to return to its original shape, our repeated facial expressions create fold lines in the skin developing the infamous crow’s feet, frown lines, and other dynamic wrinkles. The Botox injection freezes the treated area’s muscle preventing excessive expressions; therefore, reducing folds in the skin.

Following my mini-investigation, I concluded Botox benefits include, but are not limited to, reduced wrinkles and signs of aging, reduced sweat gland activity (less sweat, yay!), and requires zero down time apart from no same-day gym activity, but hey even better, right?

Within the week, I proceeded with my first ever injectable treatment of Botox. We targeted my forehead (aka home of a horrendous series of wrinkles) and within two weeks – ALL GONE, Years of heavy wrinkles gone in a less than 30-minutes treatment! Weeks later, I still find myself raving over the results. My Botox treatment by our very own master injector, Lauren Duisberg PA-C of LUX Med Spa.
