Chin enhancement or Chin augmentation also called genioplasty, is a cosmetic surgery that is used to improve the look of the chin, jawline, and neck. A typical surgery lasts one to two hours and can involve placement of an implant around the existing chin bone. Alternatively, chin surgery can be done to reduce the size of the chin by surgically adjusting the existing chin and jawbones. In either case, this procedure is used to augment the contours of the chin to help achieve a natural-looking balance between facial features.
Oftentimes chin enhancement surgery is done in conjunction with other procedures such as Rhinoplasty or Liposuction of the face, or neck. It’s common to be combined with surgeries involving other facial implants, or in conjunction with surgeries related to the jaw to improve jaw function and bite alignment.
