Microneedling, also referred to as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive procedure to resurface your skin. It is commonly used for minimizing fine lines and wrinkles as well as acne scars and has even been shown to reduce stretch marks. It is considered safe for patients who are in generally good health.
It takes only a few sessions for optimal benefits to be achieved, the procedure is nearly pain-free and the results are incredible. The procedure requires no downtime although, it is common to experience a bit of redness in the treated areas in the days following your treatment sessions.
The results from microneedling can be life-changing. The purpose of this treatment is to resurface the skin by generating new collagen. The results are smoother, firmer, and evener skin tone with a natural glow. What would it be worth to you to have softer, firmer younger looking skin?
Even though microneedling has been around since the early ’90s, the current procedure has evolved greatly from the beginning. With less downtime and more impressive results, more and more people are opting to try this procedure. If you think it could be right for you, call us today to book your consultation.
How does the microneedling procedure work?
Microneedling is an effective and popular cosmetic procedure. It works by stimulating your skin into producing more collagen. Essentially the tiny pinpricks cause minor stress to the skin, and as the skin recovers from those pinpricks it produces new collagen-rich tissue. As your skin heals, the recovered skin will be more even in tone and texture.
Over time and as we age it’s normal for our skin to lose elasticity and produce less collagen. By encouraging our skin to regenerate and produce more collagen, this service allows the skin on your face to look firmer and more youthful. It effectively reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, and acne scarring.
The procedure for microneedling is simple. Our talented staff will make sure you’re comfortable in the Lux Spa. A topical anesthetic is applied to the skin, to effectively reduce any chance of pain or discomfort during the procedure. (Often times this is done about an hour before the procedure, although the actual procedure only takes about 30 minutes.)
During the actual procedure, we will use a small tool called the SkinPen which is the only class II microneedling device cleared by the FDA. At Lux Med Spa, we demand the best for our patients, and the SkinPen is the only advanced medical grade device in the US. It has a precise safe needle depth that has been clinically proven to provide safe and effective results.
To perform the procedure your specialist will roll the SkinPen across the desired areas for resurfacing. This tool will make tiny pricks through your skin. The individual pinpricks are so small that you likely won’t feel them at all after the procedure. Because the SkinPen is moved evenly across the skin the skin rejuvenates evenly as it heals. The result is a more even and rejuvenated skin surface. We’re confident you’re going to love it!
How much does microneedling cost?
Microneedling is predominantly done on the neck and face. For a single session on your face, you can expect to pay $300. However, most patients find the greatest benefit from purchasing a package of 3 sessions which is priced at $750. If you’d like to purchase a single sessionand treat both your face and neck you can expect to pay $500 for one session or $1,275 for 3 sessions.

What are the target areas for microneedling?
Microneedling is a procedure used most commonly on the neck and face. It is often used to target the following areas.
- Acne Scars
- Age Spots
- Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Large Pores
- Areas with Reduced Skin Elasticity
- Uneven Skin Tone
What is the recovery like after microneedling? Any side effects?
Like most cosmetic procedures there is a small chance for an adverse reaction. However, with microneedling, the most common side effect is minor skin irritation immediately following the procedure. In some cases, you might see an appearance of redness on the treated areas for a few days.
Microneedling isn’t for everyone. If you are pregnant, have recently undergone radiation treatments, or have certain skin diseases such as eczema or psoriasis, you would not be an ideal candidate for this procedure.
The recovery time from microneedling is minimal. Most people need very little downtime to recover if any at all. It’s common to experience some minor skin irritation in the first few days following your procedure. This is a normal response as your skin recovers from the needle pricks. Almost all of our patients return to work the same day after receiving their treatment. It’s common to need a bit more makeup in the first few days after the treatment to hide any redness.
Although microneedling comes with minimal downtime, it’s still important to give your skin a little extra TLC following this procedure. Your skin will be sensitive to the sun, so SPF is a must. In fact, we recommend avoiding extreme sun exposure for a few days. Because of the skin’s ability to regenerate quickly, the results from your microneedling will be visible within a few weeks of your first session. In order to obtain the maximum benefits of microneedling, we recommend that you book multiple sessions. Usually optimal results are achieved after 3 sessions and then maintenance sessions can be booked in the future to prolong the benefits of your resurfaced skin.
