SmartLipo Triplex™
At our practice in Atlanta, we see many men and women seeking liposuction after becoming frustrated by stubborn pockets of fat that remain even though they exercise and eat healthy diets. SmartLipo Triplex™ is a laser-assisted method of liposuction performed by Dr. Alan Larsen that not only removes fat, but also tightens skin in the treatment area.1 Dr. Larsen uses the Cellulaze™handpiece for additional skin tightening.2
At Buckhead Plastic Surgery, we can customize liposuction procedures for the patients we serve from Atlanta and the surrounding areas. Liposuction is not a replacement for a healthy lifestyle, but it can help define your body’s contours for a more youthful and healthier looking shape. Request a consultation with Dr. Larsen using our online form to learn more about this minimally invasive, FDA-approved, laser-assisted liposuction procedure. Or call Buckhead Plastic Surgery at 404.367.9005 to schedule an appointment.
Understanding the SmartLipo Procedure
Dr. Larsen performs SmartLipo for patients to rapidly dissolve fat and tighten the surrounding skin almost anywhere in the body. This FDA-approved laser-assisted liposuction procedure is minimally invasive and offers less bleeding, swelling and bruising, as well as a quicker recovery time than conventional liposuction.1
During your private consultation with Dr. Larsen, he discusses the SmartLipo procedure and explains how SmartLipo targets various areas of the body to remove excess fat as the laser energy helps to promote skin tightening.
Dr. Larsen uses a local anesthetic during the SmartLipo procedure. He makes a tiny incision and inserts a small 1-millimeter cannula that contains a laser fiber, which delivers energy directly to the underlying fat cells. The laser ruptures the fat cells, liquefying them before the fat is suctioned from the body. In addition to enabling an easier and less-aggressive removal of the fat, this laser energy also helps tighten the skin.1
SmartLipo uses smaller instruments than traditional liposuction and adds the benefits of laser technology. It is a more efficient method of removing fat from small areas of the face, neck, arms, abdomen, thighs and areas where the skin has lost some elasticity. Although there is reduced bruising and swelling with SmartLipo, swelling can persist after the procedure; a compression garment worn after the procedure helps minimize swelling.
At Buckhead Plastic Surgery, the price of Smartlipo starts at only $2,500, and we offer several options for financing your procedure. Learn more about your payment and financing options.

After a SmartLipo Procedure
You can return home and rest shortly after a SmartLipo procedure. Most patients are ready to go back to work in just a few days, although this varies. Once you feel well enough, you may gradually increase your activity. A pressure garment may be placed over the procedure area for several weeks depending on the body area treated. Dr. Larsen recommends avoiding strenuous levels of activity or exercise for at least 3 weeks.
Shortly after the procedure, the treated area will appear more compact and smaller. Skin tightening, however, occurs more gradually and continues for a few months before you’ll notice the final results. Measure the success of your Smartlipo treatment in inches rather than pounds. The weight removed is not as important as the improvement in your body’s contour. And that’s just the aesthetic benefit.
More importantly, an improved self-image often boosts confidence as well. The SmartLipo procedure is designed to provide long-lasting benefits and, with continued diet and exercise, you can maintain the results of your SmartLipo for many years to come.
